Paul has been ranked in the top 35 squash players in the world, and was seven times Essex champion. He was national coach for England for seven years and has been awarded UK coach of the year for working with juniors, by the national coaching foundation.
Since his time in New Zealand, Paul has taken a number of individuals and teams to success and throughout his coaching career has coached players to more than six world titles and many national and European titles. Paul has also worked with and assisted Carol Owens to win two world championships. Paul’s assistant coach is the talented Phil Buscke-Somervell, who has been as high as number six in the New Zealand rankings.
Paul also owns and operates the Pro Shop with the best range of squash (and tennis) equipment in Auckland and is readily available for countless restringing of racquets.
Squash at the club is both competitive and social, with a wide range of ages and stages. Having six glass backed squash courts and an online booking system allows for people to play at the times they prefer. During the school term there is a junior programme for beginners through to elite players. Junior club nights are held every Friday and senior club nights on Thursdays.
Tournaments are run throughout the year by our extremely experienced and competent sports administrator Aileen Buscke. A former NZ Representative, Aileen managed/coached NZ Junior Teams to the World Championships in 1989/1991 a nd is a current NZ Junior selector.
